Tesla Gets a Semi

Elon Musk has revealed that Tesla will (should/might/may possibly) have a fully-electric semi-truck available on the market by September, followed by a fully-electric pickup truck less than two years later (maybe/possibly/we’ll see.)

Stating that the cargo vehicle will “deliver a substantial reduction in cost of cargo transport, while increasing safety and making it really fun to drive”, Musk doesn’t clarify if that last part of the statement refers to an onboard Fleshlight (What? Truck drivers are creeps, amirite?)

Outfitted with SAE level 4 autonomy, the transport truck offers the possibility of handling the driving while the driver gets ‘rest’ in the cab (see: previous Fleshlight conjecture.)

Though typically pretty bad at meeting target release dates, Tesla has seemed to have gotten a better handle on things in the lead up to the release of the Model 3. Until they release an all electric monster truck, however, they’ll continue to fight for legitimacy in the world of large vehicles.
