New York- via Detroit- based car company, Cadillac, have recently ousted their man-in-charge John de Nysschen. de Nysschen spent four years with the famed American luxury manufacturer. He’s been replaced by Steve Carlisle, formerly GM Canada’s President and Managing Director.

Since making Maybach a sub-brand under their main brand, Mercedes haven’t really done much to capitalize on ultra-lux company. They have their Avengers-style task-force, the Maybach Music Group, promoting their brand of social order, but other than that, nada.
Maybe that’s been for the best.

Buick, like their neighbors at Cadillac, are great at making concept cars. Their Avista is an all-timer; the Avenir, a unique take on that silly fastback-sedan thing that the German’s keep doing; and the Roadmaster, which would immediately obviate the continued existence of Chrysler.
One thing these all have in common is that they are in no way reflected in the products currently on offer.

Our last post was a reluctant ode to the job Ford’s development of true-blue sporty vehicles. Despite a lifelong bias against the Blue Oval for purely geographic reasons, to say nothing of my complete lack of interest in most of their vehicles, it was important to recognize and acknowledge the existence of the Focus RS and the Fiesta ST.
Thank god they provided us with an opportunity to balance out my judgement’s karma.
