As anticipation builds for the arrival of Alfa Romeo’s first SUV for the North American market, the famed Italian nameplate have announced the Stelvio First Edition, a lower powered variant when compared to the originally introduced Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
Available only in Europe, the giant tease is mated to an all-wheel drive system that we can’t currently drive as we are being punished for our transgressions against automotive culture. A 2L turbo (280/306) delivering it to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.
Complicating matters further is that Alfa Romeo are under the Fiat Chrysler Automotives umbrella making it a corporate cousin to Dodge. Like seeing a crush with someone you despise, or having Donald Trump in the White House, certain associations have a way of lessening the value of otherwise unimpeachable articles of admiration.
