2018 Subaru Crosstrek Unveiled: Naps Ensue

Perhaps concerned that they may fall into Honda’s redesign-beyond-recognizability trap, Subaru is sticking the course and refusing to put any more than the minimal amount of effort into their current designs. See: the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek, revealed at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show.

Sitting on top of the new Subaru Global Platform (SGP), the drive-train that will be used for all Subaru products going forward, the updated Crosstrek will be stiffer and firmer with a lower centre of gravity and an improved suspension. It utilizes the same 2L flat-four found in the 2017 Impreza, another graduate of the school of barely-noticed-it. It sees an increase of 4Hp to 152HP with 145 LB-FT of torque.

Included in the updates are  active torque vectoring, previously an upgrade, and X Mode, a traction control setting for more difficult surfaces. A bunch of nannies are included, too, increasing weight and complexity while questioning your decision making while driving.

Making sure that none of the above seems too exciting, an updated CVT is the only transmission available.
