Cadillac Refreshes XTS Without Making It Refreshing

The four-year-old Cadillac XTS is about to get an update for the 2018 model, though still no sails or paddles for this boat.

Exact details are still sparse but it’s expected that a new six-speed transmission will be dropped in and bolted onto the 3.6L V6 from the Buick LaCrosse (speaking of boats.) Front-drive comes standard with all-wheel drive as an option.

While Cadillac has been desperately trying to rebrand themselves as an exciting drivers-alternative to the German sports-sedan market, the XTS is their olive-branch to those who’d prefer prune juice. With absolutely no threat of excitement or engagement, the XTS will serve as a more relaxed, slippers-and-pajama-pants-wearing option to the CT6’s tight-fashion-pants offering.
